Transcription and translation

Transcribe audio and video in 30 languages

Turn any recording in your library into text, timestamps and .srt or .vtt subtitles, then translate them into 47 languages with the timing kept.

Included in every paid plan, with its own monthly hours.

Everything you need from one recording

  • Plain text

Paragraphs ready for show notes, articles, study notes or meeting minutes.

  • Text with timestamps

Every line starts with its time; click one to hear that moment, or paste the times into a YouTube description.

  • Subtitles (.srt and .vtt)

Caption files cut to readable lines, for YouTube, Vimeo, social video and every video editor.

  • YouTube chapters

Suggested chapter times and titles for your video description, to edit before you publish.

  • Translation into 47 languages

Included with transcription: translated text and subtitles that keep the original timing, so the .srt and .vtt files line up with your video.

How it works

  1. 1

Put the file in your library

Upload a recording on your Library page, or save a cleaned file there when it finishes.

  2. 2

    Choose Transcribe

Pick the spoken language, or let it be detected. Only when you click Transcribe is the file’s audio sent, over an encrypted connection, to our speech AI, which keeps nothing.

  3. 3

    Read, translate, download

Search the transcript, play along, copy it or download text, .srt or .vtt. Choose Translate for another language. Translating sends the transcript’s text (not the audio) to our language AI, which keeps nothing either. Both stay in your library for next time.

Hours for every paid plan

Transcription has its own monthly hours, separate from cleaning, counted by the length of the file. Translation is included with transcription: each transcript can be translated into up to 5 of the 47 languages, at no extra charge and without using any hours.

  • Creator

    9 hours a month

  • Pro

    30 hours a month

  • Studio

    100 hours a month

What is sent, and what is kept

Only when you click Transcribe is the file’s audio sent, over an encrypted connection, to our speech AI, which keeps nothing.

Translating sends the transcript’s text (not the audio) to our language AI, which keeps nothing either.

We never keep the audio. Your transcripts and translations are saved in your library, so they open again without transcribing twice; only you can see them, and they’re deleted when you delete them, the file or your account. Privacy policy

FAQ

Questions

Which languages can it transcribe?

30 languages: Arabic, Cantonese, Chinese (Mandarin), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Macedonian, Malay, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese. Pick the language for the best result, or let it be detected automatically.

Which languages can it translate into?

47 languages: every language it transcribes, plus Bengali, Bulgarian, Croatian, Gujarati, Hebrew, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Norwegian, Punjabi, Serbian, Slovak, Swahili, Tamil, Telugu, Ukrainian, Urdu. Translations keep each line’s timing, so translated subtitles line up like the original.

Who can use transcription and translation?

Every paid plan. Each includes transcription hours per month, counted separately from cleaning; Pricing shows the hours of each plan. Translation is included with transcription: each transcript can be translated into up to 5 of the 47 languages, at no extra charge and without using any hours. A language counts once its translation is saved; translating it again doesn’t use another, and deleting a translation makes room for a new language.

What happens to my audio and my transcript?

Only when you click Transcribe is the file’s audio sent, over an encrypted connection, to our speech AI, which keeps nothing. Translating sends the transcript’s text (not the audio) to our language AI, which keeps nothing either. We never keep the audio. Your transcripts and translations are saved in your library, so they open again without transcribing twice; only you can see them, and they’re deleted when you delete them, the file or your account. If your plan ends, you can still open, download and delete them.

How accurate is it?

Clear speech in a supported language comes out very well, and a cleaned recording helps. Names, jargon and overlapping voices can still be misheard, and a translation can miss nuance: read it through before you publish.

Can I add the subtitles to YouTube or my video editor?

Yes. Download .srt or .vtt and upload it in YouTube Studio, or import it into Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut and most other editors and players. Translated subtitles work the same way, one file per language.
